Read the whole file. Draft in your firm's style.
Counterpart is a private assistant for Kenyan law firms. It reads every pleading, affidavit and ruling in a matter, answers your questions with the page each answer comes from, and drafts the way your firm writes.
Wanjiru v Mwangaza Ridge Properties Ltd
When was the Defendant first told about the encroachment?
By a demand letter from the Plaintiff's advocates dated 3 March 2023 D4, p. 2, which gave the Defendant fourteen days to move the wall.
The Defendant replied on 20 March 2023 denying that it had built past the beacons D5, p. 1. It did not mention the surveyor's report.
We refer to the above parcel, registered in our client's name, and to the perimeter wall your client erected along its eastern boundary in or about November 2022.
Our client's surveyor has established that the wall stands approximately 4.2 metres inside her parcel. We therefore demand that the wall be removed within fourteen (14) days of this letter.
Take notice that should you fail to comply, we have instructions to file suit without further reference to you.
From a bundle of papers to a draft you can settle.
1
Upload the matter
Add the file as it is: typed PDFs, scanned pleadings, Word documents. Scans are read page by page, so nothing in the bundle is skipped.
2
Ask about it
Start from a one-page summary of where the matter stands and your client's position. Then ask what the court ordered, when something was served, or where the other side contradicts itself.
3
Draft and download
Name the document you need. Counterpart drafts it from the file in your firm's format, and it downloads as a Word document on your letterhead, ready for you to settle.
Drafts that read as if they left your chambers.
Give Counterpart a few of your firm's Word documents and it learns how you set them out: the headings, the numbering, the way you open your submissions. It follows Kenyan court conventions, and where a fact isn't in the file it marks the gap for you instead of filling it in.
It drafts applications, supporting and replying affidavits, written submissions and submissions in reply, plaints, defences, grounds of opposition, preliminary objections, appeals, witness statements, letters, legal opinions and agreements. Or name any other document and it will draft that too.

PLAINTIFF'S SUBMISSIONS IN REPLY
1.I wish to submit that the Defendant's submissions do not answer the surveyor's report produced as exhibit GW-3, which places the wall approximately 4.2 metres inside the suit property.
2.The Defendant was put on notice by the demand letter of 3 March 2023 and did not call any survey evidence of its own at the hearing on FACT NEEDED: hearing date.
3.The Defendant's letter of 20 March 2023 denies the encroachment but does not dispute the beacons fixed in that survey.
Private to your firm, by design.
Client files are confidential, so privacy isn't a setting you switch on. It is how Counterpart is built.
- A workspace for your firm alone
- Every matter, document and draft belongs to your firm. The database itself refuses anyone who isn't a member of it.
- Two-factor sign-in for everyone
- Each advocate and member of staff confirms every sign-in with an authenticator app before any file opens.
- Not used to train AI
- Your documents are processed under business terms that don't allow them to be used to train AI models.
- Stored in Ireland
- Files and the database are kept in data centres in Ireland, in the European Union.
- Nothing quietly deleted
- Removing a record archives it, and every change is logged, so your firm can always see who did what and when.
- Our staff can't open your files
- Our own admin tools set up firms and seats. They have no view of your matters, documents or drafts.
Set up for your firm, not left to it.
